A Great Inflow of Tributes Have Followed The Passing Away Of The ‘Watchmaker Of St. Paul’ Helmer At The Age Of 79 Following Deteriorating Health Amid Struggle With A Long Time Illness.French filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier has died, aged 79.

The “A Sunday in the Country” and “Round Midnight” director gave up the ghost this week 22 March 2021 after a long time illness.

A spokesman for France’s Lumiere Institute in Lyon, of which Tavernier was president, confirmed the sad news on Thursday 25th March 2021. Though the cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Filmmaker Claude Lelouch was among the first to pay tribute to his friend, regarding Tavernier’s passing “a colossal loss for French cinema.”
