The Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike habe been slammed by lots of people for his cash and land gift to Burna Boy to appreciate him for winning th e Grammy.
Wike announced the gift for Burnaboy while welcoming him and his parents at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Saturday.
The Governor described the Grammy award-winning Afrobeat singer, as the pride of the state and also promised to give artistes who performed at Burna’s Homecoming Concert in Rivers State N10 million each.
Reacting, some Nigerians on social media who condemned the action accused Wike of wasteful spending while still owing pensioners in the state.
Some also dragged Burnaboy for accepting the gift.

The impulse gifting by Governor Wike is so unnecessary for a state that has failed to pay gratuity & pension.

How does a Governor, who holds public funds in TRUST, randomly, on the sensations of his wine-induced impulse ,suddenly dole out millions of State funds to a FEW, at a PARTY?
This is the madness we condone in NIGERIA.
No be curse, BUT WE WILL NEVER RISE! https://t.co/RjQ3DzyD0Q

What's the economic justification of giving N10m to artistes for say 10 to 15 minutes performance? I didn't know Rivers state has so much money for frivolities. Gov Wike will step out tomorrow to criticise Buhari forgetting he's part of the problem. https://t.co/eDr4z0ySWH

Good on Wike for celebrating Burna. In fact other states should do same for Kamaru Usman, Israel & all doing Nigeria proud.
But give a multimillionaire N10m, while teachers are owed salaries? Whyyy?
Is this budgeted for?
Yet Tacha & many (unemployed) Nigerians too are hailing
