This recruitment will be used to fill four part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Student Technical Assistant positions for the Department of Agriculture Greenhouse Operations at Oregon State University (OSU).
This recruitment is for student work at the East and West Greenhouses for Greenhouse Operations. This position will perform routine to complex technical or specialized tasks in support of greenhouse research.
Occasional weekend work required, selection dependent upon current class schedule availability during 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday.
100% Duties to be determined by hiring unit.
- hand watering
- checks of environmental control system
- general greenhouse clean up and sanitation
- occasional greenhouse maintenance and upkeep

Additional Required Qualifications
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to greenhouse staff and clientele.
Basic understanding of plant cultural needs such as watering and environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, use ladders, and manipulate watering hoses.
Ability to work occasional weekends and holidays.
Ability to work in extreme temperatures, lighting, humidity, and dust conditions.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Plant knowledge desirable

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Anticipated hours per week: 15
Occasional weekend work required.
May have exposure to noxious odors, loud noises, wet and slippery floors, and machinery.
May be exposed to extreme temperatures, lighting, humidity, and dust conditions.
May maneuver up to 50 lbs. and may be required to stoop, bend and kneel on hard floors as necessary, push or pull carts to provide manual care plant material.
Flexible hours as needed to complete responsibilities and duties during weekdays and weekends.
